We’ve made it to the ber-months, can you believe it? After what seemed like a hurricane of political and environmental turmoil, this month’s New Moon in earthy Virgo brings us back to our daily routines and rituals. As the seasons begin to shift, you must ensure you are supporting yourself as well as you can. If you are not able to meet your own basic needs for nutrition, exercise, self-care, and work/life balance, you devalue the service you are able to provide to others. On this New Moon, take some time to ground yourself into your body by being out in nature and checking in with how you feel inside.
As a short mindfulness exercise, take five minutes to sit still and become aware of:
5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
With the Moon in a harmonious aspect with Uranus, the planet of radical identity– you are being asked, “Which unhealthy habits need disrupting and which need building upon to move towards who you wish to become?” Unhealthy habits seem impossible to break because we try to change the wrong thing and we change our habits in the wrong way. James Clear in his book Atomic Habits, explains that in building habits, we focus on what we want to achieve– the outcome. What we need to be doing is building systems rooted in identity based habits.
